Paul Edward Caldwell

Mr. Paul Edward Caldwell, age 83, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2015 while in the care of Grace Heights Health and Rehab Center. Paul was born the son of the late Solie Caldwell and Estelle Powell Caldwell on May 30, 1932 in Burke County.

Paul was a member of Willow Tree AME, and had served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He had a kindhearted, generous, and loving personality. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Paul is preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Cantrell; six brothers and two sisters.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Gladys Davis Caldwell of the home; four daughters, Dorothy Johnson and her husband, Danny of Morganton, Barbara Hooper and her husband, Reginald of Morganton, Paula Frazer and her husband, Roosevelt of Charlotte and Andrea Keller and her husband Billy of Morganton; a sister, Beatrice Caldwell of Philadelphia, PA; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Paul is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Kerry P. Risbee officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The family suggest memorials be made to Paul’s favorite Charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
