

Phyllis Towery Robinson, age 70, a resident of Trinity Village in Hickory and a former resident of Morganton, “Stepped into Glory” on Friday, November 22, 2013. Phyllis was born the daughter of the late Arnold Lee Towery and Pauline Richard Towery on October 29, 1943 in Savannah, GA.
Phyllis was of the Baptist faith and sang with the Carolina Messengers Gospel Group. She received the Director’s Award for being an Outstanding Care Provider at the Western Carolina Center where she served as a Health Care Technician for over 25 years. Phyllis enjoyed working with her mother as a vender at local flea markets, and tending to her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Phyllis will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, William Sanford Butler, Jr.
Those left behind to cherish Phyllis’ memory include a daughter, Sarah R. Payne and her husband, Michael of Valdese; a son, Stanley Robinson and his wife, Karen; a brother, David Towery and his wife, Kelly; two sisters, Hilda Williams and her husband, Norman, and Linda Coffey, all of Morganton; and four grandchildren, Ethany and Hannah Payne and Calvin and Patrick Robinson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2013 in the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday evening at Kirksey Funeral Home.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Fl., New York, NY 10001.
