Randy Richard Leatherman, age 61, of Morganton, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Mission Memorial Hospital, in Asheville, NC.

Mr. Leatherman was born on September 7, 1955, in Mecklenburg Co., NC to the late Charles and Celia Leatherman. He was an auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Leatherman was a very fun and loving man. He enjoyed being outdoors with his animals and working on cars. He could fix any car with any problems. He really loved going to car races and watching Nascar with his son, Andy, too.

Most of all, Randy loved his family and adored his wife and children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving Mr. Leatherman are his wife of 43 years, Gaye Arney Leatherman, of the home; a son, Andrew “Andy” Leatherman, of Morganton, NC; daughters, Wendy (Kevin) Berry, of Icard, NC and Callie Dellinger, of Valdese, NC; a sister, Elaine Clark of Morganton, NC; grandchildren Richard Hice of Morganton, NC, Kimberly and Heather Berry, both of Icard, NC, and Celia Dellinger, of Valdese, NC; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 7:00 PM, Kirskey Funeral Home in Morganton, NC, with Dr. Kevin Purcell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
