

Randy was born in Dade County, Miami, Florida on July 31, 1944. He was the son of the late Randolph Thompson Rogers and Ruby Singleton Rogers. Randy was a member of Friendship Baptist Church since 1955. He was a graduate of King’s Business College. Randy was employed by the Department of Corrections from 1972 until 1988 as an Educational Correctional Officer. He was later employed by American Steel Span in Sales until 2010.
Along with his parents, Randy is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Ruth Rogers; a brother, Steven Dale Rogers, both formally of Morganton; and a cousin, Hollis Early, Jr. formally of Hampstead, NC.
Those left behind to cherish Randy’s memory include his daughter, Julie Michelle Barlow and her husband Brian; a granddaughter, Hillary Shannon Barlow; a grandson, Rick Brian Barlow, all of Morganton; and two nephews, Benjamin Dale Rogers and his children Pierce, Isaac and Eva Rogers, all of Mobile, AL, and Scott Rogers and his wife Michelle with their daughters Avery and Austin Rogers, all of Valdese. Also surviving are cousins Jimmy Singleton and his wife Iris of Morganton, Patricia Harrison of High Point, and Lynne Brown of Florida; and his former wife, friend and helper/caretaker Judy S. Rogers of Morganton.
Randy wishes for his family and friends to celebrate his journey through life. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Cross officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
