Rosemary Mathies Collette

Rosemary Mathies Collette, 87, of Morganton, died Sunday, January 6, 2019. Born in Burke County on August 31, 1931, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Joseph Garfield Mathies and Frances Corpening Mathies.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Collette, son; Wilson Collette Jr., brothers; Doug Mathies, Howard Mathies, Arthur Mathies, Eddie Mathies, sisters; Carnell Mathies and Delia Corpening.

Rosemary was a devoted mom, wife, grandmother, great- grandmother and loved her family very much. Rosemary was a very involved member of Willow Tree AME Church of Morganton. She was a member of the Intercessory Prayer group and the Stewardess Board. She also loved singing in the Inspirational Choir. She loved Sewing, Cooking, gardening, and playing piano.

Rosemary is survived by children, Joseph Nathaniel Collette and wife Mary, Beverly Collette, Rose Collette, sister; Josephine Patterson, special family, Dorwyn and Linda Croom and family, along with a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Willow Tree AME Church with Pastor Wanda Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 6:00pm to 7:00 pm at the home, 2931 Collette Ave, Morganton, NC 28655.
