Ruby Alene James

Mrs. James was born on September 27, 1929, in Burke Co., NC, to the late Roy and Dorothy Ross Garrison.

Ruby was currently a member of Mulls Grove Baptist Church, and was formerly of Hopewell and Burkemont Baptist Churches and several churches in Elyria, Ohio and Lebanon, Indiana. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, pianist and treasurer for various churches to which she belonged. She loved playing and teaching piano.

She was a member of Home Extension Club and Quilters Clubs. She was a Stanley Home products dealer for over 50 years.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smith James; brother, Thurman Garrison; and sister, Rosa Lee Dockery.

She is survived by her sons, Darrell James and wife Linda, Randall James , daughter Anita Gribble and husband James, sister, Martha S. Barbee, Grandchildren; Amy, Matthew and Timothy James, Joshua Gribble and wife Roxann, Zachary Gribble and wife Emma, Shelbie and Katie Gribble , five great-grandchildren and her caring neighbor Gail Waycaster

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at Mulls Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Bunton officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends, on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 11:00 -2:00 pm at Mulls Grove Baptist Church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mulls Grove Baptist Church in Morganton, NC.
