

William “Duck” Reid DeVinney, age 73, of Morganton, died Saturday April 27, 2013 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born in Burke County on June 30, 1939 to the late William Claude DeVinney and Annie Reichard DeVinney. Duck was retired from Premier Hosiery Mill and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He also served in the US Air Force.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 Years, Rita Trent DeVinney; one son, Trent DeVinney and wife Tahera of Morganton; one sister, Gwen Lane of Morganton; three grandchildren, Andrew DeVinney, Cooper DeVinney and Madison DeVinney ; sister in law, Marva Alder of Connecticut; brother in law, Bob Trent; niece, Lisa Dale; nephew, Billy Lane and one great niece Peyton Dale.
Funeral service to celebrate Duck’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Monday April 29, 2013 at Kirksey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Mace officiating. Interment will follow in the Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM prior to the service at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
