Anne Leeman, 75, of Mooresburg, Tennessee, passed away on January 9, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved fiercely. After a prolonged battle with lung disease, Anne left this world the same way she lived in it—on her own terms, held close by those who mattered most.
Anne was born in Germany to Rudy and Hilde Herkenrath. She moved to the United States at a young age and was raised in New York and New Jersey, where she developed the grit, strength, and no-nonsense spirit that would define her for a lifetime.
She attended Newton High School and maintained lasting friendships through the years. Anne was a hard worker who devoted her life to her family, believing deeply in showing love through action. If something needed to be done, Anne did it—fully, fiercely, and without complaint.
Known for her fiery spirit, feisty attitude, and quick wit, Anne was truly one of a kind. A product of the 60s and 70s, she loved to dance, laugh, socialize with friends, and fully enjoy life. She knew how to have the best time—but she also knew how to show up in the quiet moments. She was a steady force of strength and reassurance—a defender, a caretaker, and a fighter when one was needed—making sure her people were always taken care of.
Anne was the proud mother of three children, but her home was never limited to biology. Her door was open to family, friends, and her children’s friends, whom she welcomed, protected, and loved as her own. Once Anne claimed you, you were hers for life. She was unwaveringly loyal and would go to battle without hesitation for those she loved.
Anne is survived by her three children: Adrian (Andrea) Leeman of New Jersey, Karl Jay Leeman of Mooresburg, and Paula (Les) Coffey of Bean Station, Tennessee. Adrian, with his strength and determination; Karl, with his quiet steadiness and fortitude; and Paula, with her tenacity and loyalty, each received these traits and learned the value of hard work and caring from their mother. They show their love through the same hard work, devotion, and acts of service she modeled, embodying her heart and continuing her legacy.
She is also survived by her sister, Helga (Todd) Masker of Pennsylvania. With a bond that epitomizes sisterly love, the two laughed, loved, learned, and lived life as only sisters can. Through life’s celebrations and battles, they stood fast for one another.
Anne is further survived by her grandchildren: Courtney (Brad) Allen, Kaylee (Jeremiah) McMurray, Alexis Coffey, Rebecah (David) Fleishman, Dalton (Jennifer) Leeman, Casey Thomas, Leif (Laura) Leeman, and Erykka Leeman; and by her great-grandchildren: Pierson McMurray; Lorelai and Emily Leeman; Jesse, Jace, and Lucie Fleishman; and Jensen Leeman—all of whom carry forward her fire, strength, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Hilde Herkenrath, and her sisters, Mare Herkenrath and Lisa Hornback.
Private services will be held by the family.
Anne Leeman was bold, loyal, loving, and unforgettable. The world is quieter without her—but those who loved her are stronger because of her
