Dr. Bill Jon Wells was born January 22, 1944 to the late Cecil Wells and Margaret Greene in Morristown, TN. He was a graduate of Tennessee State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. After which he received his Doctorate Degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee.
Bill Jon served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During this time, he worked at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas as a Mental Health Consultant. Following the Army, he worked a number of years as an Employee Counselor in Los Angeles, California. He returned to Tennessee and retired from Knoxville College as Professor of Psychology.
Bill Jon transitioned from his life on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Systems. Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepfather, Ulysses Greene; and brother, Jackie Wells.
Survivors include his siblings, Bobby Greene and Jerrie (Norman) Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in City Cemetery with Rev. Joe Senter officiating. Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
