Dean Earnest

He was born in Harlan, Kentucky where he met his beloved wife and best friend of 67 years, Barbara Pope Earnest. No stranger to hard work, grit, and perseverance he began his first career with American Credit Company in 1957, moving the family to multiple small towns across the southeast portion of the United States. Ahead of his time, and a pioneer who followed his true entrepreneurial spirit, he and his older brother (Clark) started Earnest Brothers Enterprises that encompassed a wide variety of small businesses including a Morristown favorite, "Tastee-Freeze".

He was an active member of both Kiwanis and Lions Club of Hamblen County. In 1975 he was named an honorary Kentucky Colonel by then Governor Julian Carroll.

A lifetime member, leader, and mentor at Jefferson City Christian Church, he touched many lives and effortlessly adopted a mantra of "rooting for the underdog". He was a man of faith, exhibiting unconditional generosity, and an unwavering commitment to both his church and family.

For those of us who loved him, it won't be difficult to find a good laugh as we remember his well-worn jokes, sharp wit, phrases and tall tales. We will remind ourselves that we were so blessed to have been loved by him.

He was preceded in death by a special grandfather, Elijah Howard; his father, Jack Earnest, his mother, Leola Howard Earnest; brothers. Clark and Curtis Earnest and son-in-law: Eual Noah.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years , Barbara Pope Earnest; daughters: Lisa Noah, Karen Aboush (Vedat), and son: Michael Earnest (Jennifer). Grandchildren: Natasha Noah (fiance' Patrick), Cortney Noah Stepp (Justin). Keegan Dean Aboush. Great grandchildren: Noah Morrison, Delainey Stepp, William "Eli" Morrison and Maggie Juse Stepp. Sister: Barbara Earnest Walls and numerous nieces and nephews. And precious friends both near and far.

A private celebration of Dean's life will be held at a later date.
