

Dorman Brogan, age 87, of Bulls Gap, passed away peacefully in his sleep at The Wexford House, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Hancock County on March 2, 1928 to the late Will and Lee Ora Purkey Brogan. He married Nancy Edith Johnson as teenagers and together they moved to Ohio for work and to raise their family. They lived there for 50 years before retiring “down home” to Bulls Gap, Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 70 years, Nancy Edith Brogan; sons, James Dorman “JD” Brogan and Roger Dale Brogan; granddaughter, Beth Cawley; great-granddaughter, Meagan Cawley; mother, Lee Ora Brogan; father, William Brogan; sisters, Myrtle Reed, Edith Green, and Erma Lee Brogan; brothers, Kyle and Rual Brogan; and two infant siblings. Dorman is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Earl) Eversole of Franklin, Ohio, Gayle (Harry) Noel of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Leesa Cassell of Moraine, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen, Bill, Robert, Doyle and Dean Brogan; sister, Ruth Collins; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Johnson. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
