Rev. Helen Louise “Betty Joe” Murrell Adams, age 77, of Morristown went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at UT Medical Center. She was a member of New Direction Christian Center and also did jail ministries. Helen was the founder of The House of Hope for women and delivered Meals on Wheels for years. She was preceded by her mother, Oma Murrell; father, Darcey Murrell; and granddaughter, Laurie Ann Smith.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Green; sons, Tony Goins, Jeffrey Goins, Joey Adams; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Walker, Edith Forgety, Janie Horner; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2017 in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Doug Cox and Ken Peacock officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. in McKinney Chapel Cemetery in Rogersville on Saturday morning for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
