Jerry Wayne Owens, age 79, of Bean Station, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a faithful member of Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Shoffner Owens; father, Joe Owens; and beloved aunt, Georgie Shoffner Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mayme Owens; children, Diana (Kurt) Steiner, Jeffrey (fiancé, Janet Lee Keaton) Owens; grandchildren, Laura (Jacob) Genet, Madeleine Steiner; great-grandchildren, Cohen Genet, Eliza Kate Genet; and special friends, Carroll “Heavy” Wilder and Todd Brabson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 5 – 7:00 p.m. at Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Sinnamon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Stubblefield Funeral Home.
