He was born on April 13, 1964. He was a longtime faithful member and deacon of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Jon's personality and laugh were infectious, which is why he was loved by all who knew him. He graduated Morristown East High School in 1983. He had tremendous athletic ability, but was best known for his outstanding football career. Jon married Donna Darnell on August 2, 1985. God blessed him with two children he was very proud of, Rachel and Jacob Jennings, a daughter-in-law Shelby Jennings, and he was most eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild in September 2026.
Jon worked for his late father-in-law's business, Lakeway Fire Protection, Inc. He loved to spend his time hunting and fishing. He took great joy in his time serving as a coach to his son's baseball teams. He leaves an empty place in the hearts of his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at Macedonia Baptist Church Thursday, March 12 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Roger Porter and Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Psalm 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
