He retired from Walters State Community College after over 20 years as an electrician.
In 1969, he married Wilma J. Satterfield, they were married for 33 years before her passing in 2002. Along, with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents: Mack and Anne Knight.
Wayne is survived by his daughter: Meghan Brooks (Chris Manning); grandchildren: Gingie and Mallie Brooks. Sister: Carolyn Cox; nephew: Andrew Cox, mother-in-law: Bobbie Satterfield and brother and sister-in-law: Rev. Mike and Darlene Elkins, and his best friend: Pettey Rouse.
Receiving of friends will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Calvue Baptist Church with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 with Rev. Bob Zavattieri officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
