

Piney “Mamaw” Geneva Ayers Stevens, age 77 of Morristown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 1, 2014 after a brief illness. She was saved at the age of 9 at Seals Chapel in Tazewell. She served the Lord her entire life and was the ultimate prayer warrior. Piney was a member of New Start Baptist Church and attended Captive Free Ministries the last few years of her life. She retired from Magnavox after over 30 years of service. She served as a foster grandmother to the children at Lincoln Heights Elementary Preschool for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ayers; son, Rev. David Ayers; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Ayers; parents, Rev. James and Eva Ramsey; brothers, Rev. Tommy, Rev. George, and Rev. John Ramsey; and sisters, Rosa Mae Cope and Ann Bull. Survivors include her son Pastor Randall Ayers; daughters, Gail Marcum and Freida Elkins; daughter-in-law, Mona Perry; sister, Jessie (Bruce) Singleton; grandchildren, Todd (Lynn) Ayers, Heather (Jimmy) McClain, Teneka Ayers, Pastor Joe (Ale) Ayers, Brandy (Josh) Holder, Mandy Marcum, Benji Marcum, Whitney (Nick) Cotter, Blake and Dylan Elkins; 12 great-grandchildren; many foster grandchildren, who call her Mamaw; special friends, Sharon Lande and Darlene Cutshaw; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Randy Ayers, Rev. Charley Johnson and Pastor Glen Dockins will conduct the services. Family and friends will meet at Seals Chapel Cemetery in Tazewell on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 12:45 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 5 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
