

Rex Smith Barnard, age 76, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He was a member of Howington Baptist Church in Howard’s Quarter in Tazewell. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Inez Woods Barnard; infant daughter, Pamela Barnard; parents, James Smith Barnard and Bobbie Elrod Barnard Patterson; step-dad, R. S. Patterson; stepson, Gillis Turner; grandson, Craig Lawson; step-grandson, Chad Rogers; and Rex’s longtime love’s son, Mark Tomaselli. Survivors include his children, Kim Barnard, Alan Turner, Teresa (Darryl) Byrd, Rex Anthony (Letha) Barnard, Cynthia Lawson, Brian (Shelby) Barnard and Bradrick Barnard; longtime love, Frances Durham; brothers, Doug Barnard, Jim Patterson and Danny Patterson, all of Harrogate; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5 – 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Rothe officiating. Family and friends will meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Thursday morning at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Barnard, Ryan Barnard, Tristan Barnard, Caleb Barnard, Austin Gardner, Jason Byrd, Eric Turner, and Neil Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be: Travis Turner, Aaron Turner and Mehki Montgomery. Services are under the direction of Stubblefield Funeral Home.
