Tekla was raised in the Lutheran church, sang in the choir and also played the piano. She was a free spirit and enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. For many years Tekla was a homemaker and took care of her children and many others as wee. Later she went to work as a cafeteria worker in the Stow and Concord School systems.
Tekla is preceded in death by the love her life, Luther, in December 2024, they were married for 56 years.
She is survived by her daughters: Melissa (Chris) Harper, Stephanie (Michael) Urbanek and Rebecca (Tony) Carrizales. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at MountCastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge, VA,on Friday, June 27, 2025. Visitation to start at 10:30 am, Service to follow at 11:30 am with graveside services and burial in Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, VA, at 2:00 pm.
