Elmer Richard, 79, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Elmer loved to cook, shop, and enjoyed dancing to the French Waltz before he became disabled. Elmer graduated from Louisiana School for the Deaf in the mid-1950s. He also loved getting to spend time with his family and friends. He had a very strong faith in God that was instilled by his mother.
Left to cherish his memory is a brother Howard Richard of Gillis, 10 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mamie Richard, a brother Edward James Richard, a sister Mary Nell Newman, and a nephew Chuck Newman.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11am at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, LA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 from 5:00-9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will reopen on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 9:00am till the procession to St. Theodore Catholic Church for the service.
Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles, LA. following the service at the church.
The family would like to thank Amy Reynolds, Selma Thompson, and Dorothy Nixon for the love they showed and also for the communion service that Elmer received. The family would also like to thank the LSU medical team, doctors, and nurses at Memorial Hospital for their care and concern during his hospital stay.
