Kerri Jane Bourgeois Hebert, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, was welcomed into Heaven on November 2, 2013. Kerri was born on June 28, 1984, in Moss Bluff, where she graduated from Sam Houston High School, played softball and maintained stats for the baseball team, attended First Baptist Church, and ultimately, where she began her own family. She also attended Lamar State University and worked as a dental hygienist at Robinson Dental Group in Lake Charles.
In the 29 short years we were blessed to have her, Kerri lived more than most will in a lifetime. There was no one who sought to make more of each moment– no one more grateful for the real-ness of life – the grandeur in the most simple – the humor in the hard-ness of every day - than this beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Her life is a tapestry of selfless service, deep and intentional thoughtfulness, unique connection, and an abiding love for her husband, Eric, and son, Trapp, second only to her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kerri was abundantly gifted, and beauty flowed from her in the forms of art, photography, writing, décor and food. She enjoyed nature, hunting and fishing just as much as she did shopping. She appreciated a well-worn cast iron skillet as much as she did a worn out pair of running shoes. She got just as excited tackling a new recipe as she did trying a new, gourmet restaurant. This three-time, award-winning apple pie maker lived authentically – with fierce intentionality, and used all of her talents to express love to others. She never wanted her sickness to define her, and she had no reason to ever worry about that. We all knew her for this love, and we will all remember her for this love.
Kerri’s legacy will be continued by her husband, Eric Gerard Hebert, Jr., her son, Trapp Everett Hebert, her dog, Skeeter, parents Thomas and Martha Bourgeois, brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Andrea Bourgeois, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eric Sr. and Sharel Hebert, sister-in-law, Kristen Hebert, brother-in-law, Austin Hebert, and grandparents, Nola Bourgeois, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Boullion and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hebert, Sr.
We will celebrate Kerri’s life with a visitation service on Monday, November 4, from 5-8 p.m. and memorial ceremony on Tuesday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m., both at First Baptist Church, Moss Bluff. A burial service will follow at the New Ritchie Cemetery located off Paul Dulaney and Paul Bellon roads in Moss Bluff. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
