Larry I. Smith

He was a lifetime resident of Moss Bluff. Larry was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. He was a US Marine Veteran serving from 1961 - 1967. Larry was very active in his community, He was on the Board of Directors for the McNeese Cowboy Club, past President of the Board of Directors for the CCOA, He was a member of the CCOA Board of Iowa, LA, President and board member of Ritchie Cemetery, member of the Moss Bluff AARP, American Legion Post #1, National Rifle Association, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and served on the board of directors for Elderly House Corporation in Iowa, LA and Whispering Hope of Lake Charles. Larry was a lifetime member of the LA High School Officials Association. He was instrumental in starting T-Ball in Moss Bluff. Larry retired from the Plumbers and steamfitters Local 106 and Electrical Local 861.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 Years, Shirley Smith; sons, Keith Smith of Sulphur and Robert Caldwell, Jr. and wife, Bridgett of Gillis; daughters, Kristal Franklin and husband, David of Iowa, Kelli Jackson and husband, Clarence of Bossier City and Rebecca Heller and husband, William III of Gillis; brother, Gerald Smith and wife, Bobbie of Rutledge, TN; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and 1 great granddaughter expected.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 5pm-9pm and will resume on Wednesday from 8am until service time at 11am. The Reverend Francis LaRocque will officiate. Burial will be at Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Corey Caldwell, Billy Heller IV and Danny Heller; cousins, James Chaney and Vaughn Eggleston; and nephew, Travis Christianson.
