Moss Bluff - Lucille Jensen White, 85, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 in a LaPlace care center.
Mrs. White was born on May 23, 1927. She resided in Lake Charles for many years before moving to Moss Bluff in 1942. A few years later she met the love of her life, Charlie White. Then on December 18, 1948, they were married, and together they lived in the same house on White Rd. for 44 years until Charlie passed away in 1992. The White home that they shared is still on the property that her husband's family settled nearly 115 years ago. Charlie and Lucille was a couple that had deep roots in the Moss Bluff community. In so much so that on September 1987, they were named "Mr.& Mrs. Moss Bluff" by a local newspaper. Their lives encompassed more than a half-century of changes in the community. While they were raising their four children they worked at First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff for many years taking care of the building and the grounds. Lucille also worked as a Nurse's Aide at Oak Park Care Center. Outside of her busy life of working and raising her children, she always found time for her favorite hobbies; working in her flower beds, making quilts and embroidering. Her love and care she had for her flowers surpassed anyone that we had ever seen. Her front yard was beautifully laid out with Dogwoods, Oak and Pine trees. Underneath were colorful flowers everywhere that crowned the deep green grass. She was one that you label as having a true green thumb. Not long after she stopped working at the care center, she soon found something else to keep her busy, and that was babysitting in her home. Lucille was not just another babysitter, but was "MawMaw" to many, many kids that have now grown-up and still have fond and loving memories of their days spent at "MawMaw Cille's" house.
Lucille was a faithful member of Moss Bluff Bible Church. She not only had deep roots in the Moss Bluff community, but also in the hearts and lives of everyone that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Roy White and wife Ruth of Moss Bluff; Jimmy White of Ragley; Elaine Sowada and husband Buck of LaPlace; Terry White and wife Kathleen of Ragley; grandchildren, Brandon White and wife Sandy of Moss Bluff; Eric White and wife Candace of Moss Bluff; Philip White of California; Rachel White of Sulphur; Justin and Hunter White of Ragley and Casey White of Ragley; great grandchildren; Cade, Alyse, Emma, Addyson, Cora and Ethan White, sister, Jackie White of Moss Bluff; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie White and parents, Iver and Mary Jensen.
