Robert Russell Reeves

He served in World War II in the Army as a Paratrooper, CO H 517th PCHT Inf. and was the recipient of a Purple Heart during his service. He belonged to Magnolia Lodge #238 in Ragley, LA and served as Past Master and Treasurer. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillis his entire life. He was a farmer in Gillis over 51 years and worked as an Ironworker during his younger years. He was a member of the Bridge, Structural, Ornamented and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local Union #623.

He is survived by his wife, Berna Dean Mathis Reeves; son, Russell Keith Reeves and wife, Lorraine of Golden Meadow, LA; daughter, Colleen Reeves and her significant other, Robert Banniettis; grandchildren, Chad Edwin Reeves and wife, Jessica, Brandon Keith Reeves and wife, April and Amanda Ann Winterbottom and husband, Jay; great grandchildren, Evan, Isabella and Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mattie Cole Reeves; brothers, Joseph Albert Reeves, Herman Horace (Nick) Reeves and Patrick Neiland Reeves.

His service will be 2pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Gillis. The Rev. Glenn George will officiate. Visitation will begin Saturday 2pm-9pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff and resume Sunday 8am until service time. Burial will be in Reeves Cemetery.
