Ruth Abshire, age 71, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born in Eunice, LA to parents Leroy and Tracy Fruge on June 25, 1951. She was a resident of Moss Bluff for the majority of her life. She attended Sulphur High and graduated in 1969. She married Jimmie Abshire soon after graduating high school. They celebrated their love for 50 years until his passing in 2020.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished every moment she could with her family and would often have family get togethers to celebrate that. She was an incredible cajun cook, baked and decorated cakes, was a talented crochet artist, and loved playing computer games. She belonged to "come, lord Jesus" prayer group and was very devout in her faith.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband, parents, son; Jimmie "Jr." Abshire, brothers; Anthony "Tony" Fruge, Gerald Fruge, and Kevin Fruge, sisters; Susan Deshotel and Norma Jean Anderson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Jesse Abshire of Moss Bluff, La, Scott Abshire and wife Ashley of Moss Bluff, LA,Chuck Abshire and wife Shay of DeQuincy, LA, and Andrew "Andy" and wife Kacy of Lake Charles, LA, daughter; Christina Summerlin of Moss Bluff, brothers; Joseph Carl Fruge and wife Janice of Lake Arthur, LA, Leroy Fruge Jr. and wife Tina of Eunice, LA, and Keith Fruge and wife Elaine of Moss Bluff, LA, sisters; Rachel Arsement of Vinton, LA and Theresa Dartez of Iowa, LA. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Ruth Abshire will be held at Hixson Moss Bluff chapel at 10am on Thursday October 20, 2022 with a rosary at 12:30pm with a funeral service officiated by Father Guilbeau of St. Theodore's Catholic church at 2pm.
A graveside service to follow at New Ritchie Cemetery after services.
