

Shirley L. Benoit, 90, of Moss Bluff passed away March 20th 2016 with her loving family at her side. She was born in 1925 to H.H and Stella Welch in Maxie Louisiana she was one of six children. Shirley grew up in Lake Charles and at sixteen met the love of her life Fred, and together they raised 6 children.
Shirley was a true homemaker and loved everything about life. She had a gift for cooking and sewing, especially for her family, and spent many hours tending her flowers and working in the yard. A decorator at heart, she loved to paint and if you weren’t careful she would paint you when she wielded her brushes. She loved her church and was a faithful member of First United Pentecostal for the past 67 years. She had a generous spirit and always gave of her time and skill to help anyone she could or was in need.
She was predeceased by her parents; H.H and Stella Welch, Her loving husband of 32 yrs Fred who passed away in 1974, Her son; Garland ‘Danny’ Benoit, sisters; Opal Hebert & Nelda Hollingshead, brother; Calvin Welch. Shirley is survived by Daughters; Judith (Clayton) Peloquin, Jane (Wayne) Achter, Sons; Fred (Janet) Benoit, Tracy Benoit, Brian (Cindy) Benoit all of Moss Bluff, Daughter in Law; Jackie Benoit, 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Eleanor McInnis and Sandra Reeves, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Visitation to be held Tuesday March 22nd at Hixson Moss Bluff from 4-8:00 pm, Funeral Service to be Wednesday March 23rd at 11:00 am at First Pentecostal Cathedral of Praise, 320 Bunker Rd, Lake Charles.
