She was born in Port Arthur, TX and lived in Moss Bluff. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff and worked as a hairdresser for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and cooking for them, as well.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil “Tiny” Wood of Moss Bluff; son, Chessley Wood and wife, Deborah of Ragley; daughters, Carolyn Valenti and husband, Joe of Moss Bluff, Connie Gill and husband, Lyn of Topsy, Lisa Powell and husband, Les of Moss Bluff; sister, Lou Ellen Dorion and husband, U.A. of Moss Bluff; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Rev. U.A. Dorion will officiate. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery.
