Anne Billings, a life-long resident of Muncie, Indiana, passed on Wednesday, May 7, at the age of 79 after a brief illness. Born in 1946 to Robert and Yvonne Brewer, Anne grew up and attended school in Muncie, graduating from Muncie Central High School in 1964. She attended nursing college in Ft. Wayne, graduating in 1967, before returning to her hometown to begin her 41-year career as a registered nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital. She married Dwight Billings in 1970 and had two daughters together before divorcing in 1980; however, they remained friends and supported each other as family until his death in 2020.
Anne lived to care for her family and patients. Her daughters always came first. After retiring from BMH in 2008, she continued to serve patients as a volunteer at IU Health Radiology until 2020. Anne enjoyed reading, Colts football, Pacers basketball, attending concerts, sewing, crafting, and spending time with familiy, friends, and pets.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Samuel Brewer, and many treasured pets including Teddy and Zoe. Surviving her are her daughters Zan Petty (spouse Brian) and Melissa Billings, her grandchildren Camryn Neal, Rhiannon Neal, and Gavin Petty, her beloved pets Sammi, Jack, and Buddy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be through Elm Ridge Mortuary.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a local animal charity instead.
