Barbara Ann (Wilson) Fisher Smith

Muncie-Barbara Ann (Wilson) Fisher Smith, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the Morrison Woods Health Campus. She was born on Monday, December 28, 1931, the daughter of Dee and Daphne (Cook) Wilson, in Muncie, Indiana. Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Muncie Central High School, where she was a cheerleader. She retired from WLBC Radio, where she served as a copy writer and a producer. After thirty-nine years with WLBC, Barbara went on to be the co-owner of Fisher’s Associated Sign & Post Company with her husband, Bob. She attended the Mt. Olive Church of Muncie, Indiana. Barbara was a dancer, which included tap, ballet, and line dancing. She also loved basketball, bowling, golf, watching football, but most of all, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. She is survived by her sons, Rob (Linda) Fisher and Randy Fisher; daughter, Beth (Terry) Van Pelt; grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Fisher, Katie (Isaac) Pellerin, Andy Fisher, Nick (Kyleigh) Van Pelt, Cory (Ashley) Fisher, Christopher Van Pelt, Emily (Steven) Fisher, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; second husband, Richard Smith; first husband, Bob Fisher, who was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life; granddaughter, Amy Fisher; brothers, Ron Wilson and Norman Wilson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Elmcroft Heartland Village, I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospice, and the Morrison Woods Health Campus for their care and compassion. Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304, with Chaplain Abbie Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday. December 30, 2018, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday. Entombment will follow the service at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum.
