Bettie was born in Indianapolis to William and Ada Frederick (1928). In 1948 Bettie married the love of her life John A. Smith Jr. (Jack) of Indianapolis followed by adopting their son Jon Smith. Bettie and Jack started their business in Muncie in the late 1950s as owners of Lincoln Mercury. Then opened Jack Smith RV where Bettie was the co-owner and accountant. After her husband’s death Bettie moved to Stuart, Florida for the next 16 years. At 92 she moved back to Muncie. She was preceded in death by parents, husband and son.
Bettie is survived by Granddaughters, Samantha Brooks, Carlee Bowers (Brandon Bowers), great grandsons, Nathan and Lucas Bowers, brother-in-law George Smith (Beverly Smith), and daughter-in-law Kristie Smith, many relatives in Arizona and close friend Susan Burk. Bettie loved tennis, reading, mahjong, cruising and Delaware Country Club. She will be greatly missed! There will be a celebration of life on May 24th at 5pm at Vera Mae's.
