Billy Broughton

Billy N. "Bill" Broughton, 81, Muncie, passed away Wednesday evening, November 2, 2016 with his loving family at his side at I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He rode off into the sunset to meet his God and also all of his cowboys including his favorite, Hopalong Cassidy.

He was born April 28, 1935 in Muncie, the son of Lester and Inez (Ruble) Broughton. Bill graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. He was employed at Borg Warner for 39 years. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran and served two years in Hawaii. He was a life member of the Eagles Lodge, Am Vets in Hartford City, and American Legion in Selma and also a member of Local #287. Bill loved watching Westerns and cartoons with his great-grandchildren Xavier and Jennifer. He loved going on vacation out west and especially to Hawaii and spending some winters in Florida.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Broughton; daughter, Debbie Stafford (husband Clyde); son, Billy Broughton Jr.; grandsons, Clyde Stafford Jr. (wife Jeanette) and B.J. Broughton; granddaughter, Holly Broughton; two great-grandchildren, Xavier Vaughn and Jennifer Lynn Ann Stafford; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Stafford; several aunts and uncles.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2016 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304 with Pastor Jerry O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday and again after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
