

She was born Monday, April 26, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (Vinson) Alexander. Cynthia was a member of Union Chapel Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Delta Kappa Chapter. She taught 6th grade Science for 36 years at Shenandoah Middle School.
Cindy, as she was known by friends and family, attended Muncie Central High School, was a proud Bearcat, and graduated on June 9, 1966. She then attended Ball State University where she received the following degrees: a Bachelor of Science on March 4, 1970 and Master of Arts in Education in August 1974. She was licensed by the Indiana State Board of Education in 1974.
Cindy loved the beach, traveling, cruises, dining, music, and spending time with family and friends. She also painted, and liked learning various and new arts and crafts. She greatly enjoyed teaching, her fellow educator friends, and seeing former students years later and learning about their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Pettigrew; and her brother, Richard Alexander.
Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Dianne Meyer, and Kaci Pettigrew (fiancé, Ryan Mowery); step-son, Dean (wife, April) Pettigrew; step-daughter, Robyn (husband, Steve) Kudulis; and brother, Kurt (wife, Cathy) Alexander. She is also survived by grandchildren, Alexis Dianne Elaine, Amanda (husband, Josh), Jackie, Ethan, Sophia, and Alex; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Trinity, Kathryn, and Joshua.
Family and friends may call at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, on Thursday, July 26, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
