Dorothy Mae Brummett

She was born in Wilder, Tennessee, the daughter of Shirley and Cora (McCowan) Hood. Dorothy married the love of her life, James Brummett, on September 26, 1956 and they spent sixty-four wonderful years together until his passing. She worked at Ball Brothers, Selma Wire and Eaton Canning Company throughout the years. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed playing softball, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. She was a devoted member of Bethel United Baptist Church.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Anthony “Tony” Brummett; two sisters, Kathy Fannan and Clara (Darrell) Clark; five grandchildren, Brittany (Carl) Cleckner, Matthew Waters, Micah Green, Marah Green, Joshua Neely; and three great-grandchildren, Jade Waters, Talyn Waters, and Jayvinn Waters.

Dorothy is preceded in passing by her husband, James Brummett; two daughters; Debbie Green and Patricia Brummett; parents, Shirley and Cora Hood; three brothers, Corbett, Lester and Jeff Hood; and three sisters, Freda Daniels, Agnes Bailey and Betty Grose.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
