Ernest Thomas "Tom" Ison, 80, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1945, to Ernest and Mary Belle (White) Ison, in Muncie, IN. On August 24, 1968, Tom married Betty McDonald in Muncie, and she survives.
Tom graduated from Selma High School in 1963, maintaining perfect attendance throughout his entire school years. He worked for 42 years at GM Chevrolet in Muncie before retiring. Early in his time at Chevy, he was called to serve in the United States Army Infantry during the Vietnam War.
A devoted member of Selma Christ Church for many years, Tom found great joy in farming, taking leisurely drives, and spending time with his family — especially his beloved grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty; son, Tom (Betsy) Ison; daughter, Lora (Steve Panning) Jones; grandchildren, Casey (Anna) Jones, Macy (Nick) Norman, Jesse (Alex) Odle, and Lacy Ison; and three great-grandchildren, Owen Jones, Landon Norman, and Emily Jones.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and brother, David Ison.
Private family services will be observed.
