He was born September 4, 1926 in Muncie to Ernest, Sr. and Atha McMichael.
Ernest served his country in the U. S. Army during W. W. II.
He retired from Borg-Warner after 43 years of service.
Ernest enjoyed watching sports, was an avid mall walker, also enjoyed camping, leisurely drives with family, and flea marketing.
He was a member of the Good Sam R. V. Club and Happy Cruisers.
Ernest is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Loretta) McMichael, Patricia McMichael, Ricky A. (Patricia) McMichael, Phillis A. McMichael Hughes, and Karen Jo McMichael Sayers; twelve grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth McMichael; son, Ernest McMichael, III; brothers, Earl McMichael and James David McMichael; sisters, Mary Ella Foster and Dorothy Ledbetter.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304 at 1:00 pm.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Burial will take place at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
