She was born on Friday, April 30, 1926, the ninth of twelve children born to Charles and Fayetta Stone. She loved being from this large family and told of townspeople who referred to them as Mrs. Stone and her 'pebbles'! Frances especially enjoyed attending the annual family reunions which continue for thirty-five years after the death of their father; he was concerned that the family would lose touch with one another, but the family assured him that would not happen.
Frances graduated from Marion High School in 1943 and moved to Muncie for employment soon after. A 'women's-libber' before her time, Frances spent forty years working at the Muncie Chevrolet office in the Human Resources Department. She was very proud of the years spent there and appreciated the many friends she made along the way.
Through her connections at Chevrolet, Frances met her husband, Edward Joseph Traub. Together they had two daughters, Patricia Bennon (Robert) of Westerville, Ohio, and Nancy Schrader (Mike) of Bloomington, Indiana. In addition, she has four grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Bennon and Mark (Jody) Bennon; Lauren Schrader and Luke Schrader; and three great granddaughters, Leila, Cora, and Sybil.
Frances is also survived by two brothers, John (Mabel) and Bob (Lura) Stone, and two sisters, Mary Ruth Davidson and Marjorie Williams, plus numerous Stone family nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by Ed's brothers, Dave and Jim (Jane) Traub, brother-in-law, Bill Taylor, and numerous Traub family nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, of sixty-five years Edward, her brother, Jim Stone, and sisters, Elizabeth Cates, Margaret Ann Stephenson, Helen Billiter, Kathryn Sulkin, Jean Megenity, and Christina Conn.
Frances and Ed enjoyed traveling. They visited all of the state parks in Indiana and hiked many a trail. They also toured Europe and visited most of the states within the continental US and Hawaii. At Hearthstone Health Campus, Frances was known as the resident comedienne who would lighten the day of friends and workers. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Hearthstone for the loving care given to both of their parents over the past three years.
A celebration of life/luncheon will be held in Muncie on Sunday, September 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Friends Memorial Church (memo: Christina Conn Scholarship Fund), 418 West Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana 47305. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.elmridgefuneralhome.com.
