

He was born in Muncie, Monday, February 17, 1936, the son of John and Elva Claspell-Wager McGunegill. Gerald was a 1954 graduate of Selma High School. In 1989, he attended Ivy Tech where he earned a degree in electronic technology.
He was Scout Master of Troop 9 in the 60’s. Gerald was also maintenance supervisor of Randolph School Corporation, emergency medical technician of Randolph County Police Department in 1960, special deputy of Randolph County in the 1980’s, as well as special deputy and medical technician of Delaware County Sheriff's Department. He was lead singer and rhythm player of his band, Thunder Road, for thirty years. Gerald was also a member of Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church.
He leaves behind six children, Gerald Wagner Jr., John (Joyce) Wagner, James (Destiny) Wagner, Jeff (Jennifer) Wagner, Jowanna (Corky) Chambers, Jenny Lou Meadows; step-children, Annette (John) Clarke, Walter Ike (Lori) Dickison, Hugh (Toni) Dickison; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wagner; mother, Elva May Claspell-Wagner McGunegill; the love of his life, Millie Dickison; two brothers, James Wagner and Robert McGunegill; sister, Sussie Wagner; and a step-son, Eugene Dickison.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, at Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, 7500 N Wheeling Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with James Oliver McCowan and Tim Overton officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Family and friends may call from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist.
