

He was born March 17, 1928 near Campbellsville, KY. During his early childhood years, the family relocated to Illinois and settled in Heyworth, Illinois at 12 years of age.
Harold attended Heyworth High School where he played varsity baseball, basketball, and ran track. He graduated in 1946.
Harold met his wife, Helen during high school and they were married in November, 1946.
He had worked for the rail road, Texas Empire Pipeline Co. and in 1950 was hired by Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Co. where he finished his career of 35 years. Harold was also was the Director of Transmission and Storage over all field operations of American Natural Resources.
He and Helen moved to Muncie in 1987 where he served on the Delaware County Drainage Board and also was President of the Farmington Neighbors Association. Due to his efforts, the ball field on Moore Road was named in his honor.
Harold was an avid golfer and enjoyed yard work. He also was a mason, belonging to the Omega Lodge in Defiance, Ohio. Harold also was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; son, Harry (Elaine) Walters, Muncie; grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Lindsey, Muncie, Cindy (Max) Long, Noble, OK, and Dorene Collins, Rockport, TX; nephew, Alan (Candie) Walters, Frisco, TX.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Walters, Bill Walters, and Marvin Walters, MIA in the Korean War.
Services will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304 with Pastor Ted Harris officiating.
Entombment will take place at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
