

She was born on May 4, 1929, in Olean, New York, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Howard) Lefquist. Helen was a homemaker and a member of Hazelwood Christian Church in Muncie.
She is survived by her children, James A. Tyler II, Gregory Tyler, (Suzzane), Catharine Jern, (Jeff); and Douglas Tyler, (Lauri); grandchildren; Travis Tyler, Chadd Tyler, Brittany Swain, Brandon Robertson, Brittany Reithmiller, Kaitlyn Tyler, Darell Jern, Joshua Jern, Grant Jern, Trevor Conner, Cameron Conner, Elayna Tyler, and Channing Morgan; twelve great grandchildren; brother, John A. Lefquist; several nieces and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tyler; daughter, Michelle M. Tyler; and sister, Jean A. Kamaras.
She was employed at Greenlake Baptist Academy, Cutco Corporation and Selma elementary schools where she was a school nurse and cafeteria worker.
In her spare time she loved camping, travelling, singing and being with her family.
Memorial contributions can be sent to The American Heart Association or Hospice Care Centers in her name.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Marty Ballard officiating.
