J. Shannon Johnson

He was born Tuesday, July 25, 1933, in Morehead, Kentucky, the son of Sylvan and Grace (McFarland) Johnson. Shannon loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He graduated from Yorktown High School. Shannon enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and he was an avid IU Basketball fan. He worked as a carpenter, a millwright, and owned and operated Liberty Steel Products until retirement.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Phyllis (Clevenger) Johnson; children, Jacquelyn "Jacky" (husband, Jeff) Johnson, Dale (wife, Peggy) Johnson, Dennis Johnson, and Dana (husband, Doug) Peters; three brothers, Virgil Johnson, Darrell Johnson, and Rodney Johnson; eight grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
