Janice Ann Woolums

Born in Muncie, Indiana, Janice was the daughter of the late Ralph and Doris Reed. A proud graduate of Muncie Southside High School, she began her career in real estate before later working as a dispatcher for Marsh Supermarkets.

On July 31, 1993, Janice married her loving and devoted husband, Ora “Bud” Woolums, in a private ceremony aboard a pontoon boat on Tippecanoe Lake—a day that marked the beautiful union of their two families.

Janice and Bud shared a love for travel, exploring destinations near and far. They also enjoyed boating and camping on Kuhn and Modoc Lakes, making lifelong memories outdoors. Janice cherished time with her high school girlfriends, especially their lively euchre club. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like playing jacks, and treating herself to vanilla ice cream topped with Hershey’s chocolate sauce or a chocolate milkshake from Burkie’s.

More than anything, Janice loved being surrounded by her family and dearest friends. Spending time with her grandchildren was the light of her life. Her warmth and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed.

Janice is survived by her husband, Bud Woolums; her children, Chantelle (Craig) Varga, Monica (Jerry) Greer, and Ryan (Dana) Hadley; Bud’s children, Steve (Toni) Woolums, Scott (Jen) Woolums, and Shannon Bailey; 12 grandchildren: Lauren, John, Brennan (Brianna), Haleigh (Tyler), Jeremy, Piper, Sam, Caulin, Ashleigh, Creag (Chi), Christian, and Tommy; one great-grandchild; her brother, Jay (Marsha) Reed; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews—and her cherished dog, Evie.

In addition to both of her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry.

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m.
