Jo Ellen Moore

She was born on February 6, 1947 in Muncie to Howard and Edna Moore. Jo graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1965 and then went on to work 44 years for Muncie Community Schools, retiring after a successful career in 2009.

Throughout her life, Jo found joy in many simple pleasures. She loved bowling in her younger years and later found happiness in cooking, sitting on the porch with her sister, admiring their solar lights and watching the birds fly by. She also enjoyed collecting apples and butterflies. Above all else, Jo’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Jo’s family and friends will remember her by her heart of gold. She was the kind of person who always made you feel welcome, and made sure everyone she loved knew just how much.

Jo is survived by her sister, Judy Pohl; nieces and nephews, Brion (Cathy), Tony (Tammy), Howard, Chadd (Rachel), Juliann (Tim), Suellyn (Dave); great nieces and nephews, Dustin, Amber (Andre), Samantha (Alec), Aaron (Megan), Amanda (Travis), Joseph, Kaytee (Levi), Autym (Chris), Alicyn (Taylor), Kierra (Michael), Alyssa, Emma, Ella; great great nieces and nephews, Charity, Avalynn, Audrey, Callie, Becca, Cyler, Landrey, Tucker, Adalyn, Everleigh, Parker, Olivia; a special group of friends, Cindy, Dixie, Barb, Debbie, Cindy, Linda, Laurie, Nancy, Vicki, Joyce, Lynne, Becky; and a host of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard A and Edna L Moore; a brother, Howard N (Sonny) Moore; sister and brother in law, Betty L and John Bradley; a niece, Catherine Pohl; and a great nephew; Dustin Pohl.

Her legacy is one of love, generosity and the quiet but powerful way she showed up for those around her. To know her was to love her, and her memory will live on within all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home in Muncie, with Chris Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service, on Friday, at the funeral home.
