

John Milton Burch, one good man with many hats, has been called to Heaven on September 23, 2025. He was born August 10, 1945, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. His family later settled in Muncie, Indiana, around 1950. He attended Selma Schools.
John has been a lifelong staple at Prairie Creek Reservoir, from the official announcement to present day, he has been there keeping the Crappie and Bass populations under control. He was a member of the Muncie Bass Club, and has won many Bass Tournaments at Prairie Creek, and many other lakes with the Bass Federation. He was ranked 3rd in the state in the 1980’s.
He was an avid outdoorsman, whether it was fishing, deer or morel hunting, metal detecting, gem mining, darts, bowling and cards. He just had that gift of goodness.
John also worked many different jobs such as foundry, meat lockers, factory and construction with the Laborer’s Local Union 1112, in which he retired from in 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Ann Upchurch; twin sisters, Linda Bantz and Cinda (Mike) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in passing by his parents, Loraine and Walter Burch Sr.; brother, Walter Burch Jr; lifelong best friend, Jerre Reeder; brother-in-law, Dave Reeder; and his nephew, Jamie “Bub” Taylor.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304, with a service beginning at 2:00 PM.
