Joyce was born in Adrian, Michigan on Sept. 29th, 1946, to the late Arden and Betty (Deshler) Hatt and was a graduate of Sand Creek High School. Her formative years were spent working on the farm and creating lifelong friendships in and around southeast Michigan.
Married and raising two sons in Blissfield, Michigan, she filled the house with love, patience and support, while still finding time to be involved in local bowling and charitable activities as well as being a member of the Presbyterian church. She never missed a game or event and was among the loudest supporters of her sons and all their friends and teammates.
After divorce, she was employed by the Kroger Company for over 13 years living in Perrysburg and Maumee, Ohio. After retirement, she moved to Muncie, IN and spent her later years supporting her grandson Ryan and volunteering at Ball Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center, touching the lives of many during their toughest battles.
Her passions later in life were her Grandson and anything Michigan Wolverines, supporting both stubbornly and with all she had!
Joyce is survived by her two sons Jason (Kim) Burkholder of Yorktown IN, and Joshua Burkholder of Fayette,OH, sister Deb Hatt of Foley, AL and Sister in Law Patty (Higley) Hatt of Laingsburg, MI…along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, brothers David (Patty) Hatt and Michael (Sandy) Hatt.
Per her request, Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home in Muncie, and notes and memories can be made there. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined by family. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to donate to the Ball Memorial Cancer Center or the Ball Memorial Volunteer Services.
