Larry "Jake" Joseph Walker

Larry Joseph “Jake” Walker, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Bethany Pointe in Anderson, Indiana. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 8, 1939, to Joseph Jacob and Laura Lou (Baker) Walker. On August 14, 1960, Jake married Marjorie “Marge” Mingle at Crossroads Lutheran Church in Middletown, Indiana, and she survives.

Jake attended Daleville high school where he played basketball. He went on to work at General Motors for over 30 years, before his retirement. When he was younger, Jake worked at the elevator with his dad. He served on the Daleville schoolboard for several years and enjoyed coaching his children’s little league games. Jake was a proud member of the Indiana Freemasons. He enjoyed watching birds and loved attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jake is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; children, Lisa (Rollie) Huff, Brian (Julie) Walker, Michelle (Tim) Waltermire, and David Walker; grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Hansard, Cody Huff, Whitney (boyfriend, Dylan) Huff, William Walker, Audrey (Jeff) Erdmann, Jake Waltermire, Jessi (boyfriend, Nathan) Waltermire, Jared Waltermire, Madison (Seth) Shepard, Mackenzie Walker, and Malia Walker; great-grandchildren, Luke, Hadley, Ava, Cooper, Alyvia, Eastynn, Jaxon, Harper, Elle Mae, Levi, Laken, and June; two step brothers, John and Jim Dragoo; one step sister, Mary Howell; sister-in-law, Carolyn Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Byron Eugene “Gene” Walker; and stepmother, Marjorie M. Walker.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 1 pm at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
