She was born Saturday, September 22, 1945, in Winchester, Indiana, the daughter of Emil and Margaret (Bowsman) Barker. Laura was a caring and giving woman. She was very active in the community and the Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed working on many Community projects that involved a “food pantry”, “clothing for the needy”, or even baking cakes and cookies. Laura loved spending time with her family, especially sharing in the lives of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had been an active member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Samantha Murphy; son, William Murphy; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Margaret Barker; and her husband, Morton Murphy, who passed away in 2017.
Laura chose to be cremated. Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
