Marjorie Kroehler

She was born on Wednesday, May 23, 1928, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Melita (Mahler) Engel. She married the love of her life, Ralph Senf Kroehler on August 29, 1952, at Freeport, Illinois and they shared sixty-nine beautiful years together. The family moved to Elmhurst, Illinois. Following high schools, she attended Elmhurst College (now Elmhurst University) where she met her husband. She then enrolled at the University of Chicago for a Master’s in Library Science.

Her working life was spent as a librarian, teacher, substitute teacher, and volunteer. Later in life she was involved with adult literacy (tutoring and training tutors) both in English and English as a Second Language, traveling, researching family genealogy, chair & co-chair genealogy conferences, teaching genealogy, and crafts. More than anything, she loved spending time with her husband and daughter.

Her daughter, Beth Kroehler; sister-in-law, Sharon Shevelson; nephews, Todd, Michael, and Scott, and their families survive Marjorie.

Her husband, Ralph Senf Kroehler; and her parents, William and Melita (Mahler) Engel, preceded her in death.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronald Naylor officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery, 1400 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kroehler Family Scholarship Fund at Elmhurst University, 190 Prospect Avenue, Elmhurst, Illinois.
