Marvin Spurlock, 88, of Muncie, passed away Tuesday August 6, 2024 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born Friday, November 1, 1935 to the late Harley and Mabel (Baty) Spurlock in Morehead, Kentucky. Marvin was a graduate of Mt. Summit High School, and then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force.
Marvin loved farming. From tilling the land, to growing crops, to raising livestock and all that was involved. He accepted the hard work, long hours, and the dedication and perseverance needed. While farming, Marvin also worked at The Oakville Grain Elevator for many years, touching the lives of many people.
After retirement, Marvin and his wife Delores moved to Muncie where they would reside until their passing. It can truly be said that Marvin left farming, but farming never left him. He began growing flowers, taking pride in his petunias. Marvin was also a member of the Yorktown American Legion, Post #321.
Survivors include his six children; Debbie (Wayne) Ertle, Cheryl (Kenny) Poe, Eric (Monica) Spurlock, Danny (Daun) Lowman, Deanna McMillan and Kat Kissick; ten grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Danielle Dillard; fourteen great-grandchildren and his special furry companion, Rosie.
