Monty Eugene Clevenger, 79, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 at his home. He was born on March 5, 1945 in Muncie, IN, the youngest of 10 children, to Clarkson and Gladys (Wagers) Clevenger. In 1999, it was love at first sight as Monty fell for Sharon Franklin and they married on May 1, 2002 in Muncie.
Monty attended Muncie Central High school and received his GED. He later joined the Army National Guard. Monty went on to serve 35 faithful years with the Muncie Fire Department, where he achieved the title of sergeant. Although he retired, Monty never stopped being a firefighter, as he was known to drive everywhere like he was going to a fire. He loved to eat, mow his lawn, and watch NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.
Monty is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; daughters, Stephanie (Jamison) Eige, April Lemen, and Dawn Miller; grandchildren, Emerson and Marin Eige, Chance and Brady Lemen, and Blake and Ariana Miller; sister, Janice Smith; sisters-in-law, Mona (Bill) Williamson and Connie Craycraft; brother-in-law, Mike (Sheryl) Franklin; first wife, JeanAnn Clevenger; friends, Mark and Traci Greenberg; beloved cat, Trixie; and many other beloved friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
