Olene J. Phillips

Olene June Phillips, 87, Selma, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024. She was born Thursday, June 11, 1936, in Oneida, Tennessee, the daughter of Olen and Nannie (Smith) Sexton. She was a loving, caring homemaker, wife, wonderful grandmother, and foster parent. Survivors include her daughters, Diane (husband, Floyd) Buck, Shirley (husband, John) Lacefield, and Lora Plummer; grandchildren, Wendall, Neil, and Michael Buck, Christina Serverino, Wes Tomey, Derek Tomey, Shawna Horr, Crystal Tomey, Jason and Josh Cummings; several great-grand including Xander Tomey and Mia Tomey Lopez. She was preceded in death by her father, Olen Sexton; her mother, Nannie (Smith) Rich, and her husband of sixty-seven years, Loyie Phillips. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
