Robbin Luke Marvin passed away Sunday afternoon from complications following a fall while visiting his daughter, Joy Wegener, in Muncie. Robbin was a Muncie resident from 1993-1997. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and started an international student Sunday School class which has since grown so large, an independent Chinese church has been formed from it.
Robbin grew up in a God-fearing home in Duluth, Minnesota. He attended Wheaton College, was a Navy pilot during WWII, and taught Chemistry at Whitworth College. In 1948, he and his bride, Betty, went to Thailand as missionaries for five years. When they returned, Robbin attended Princeton Seminary and become the pastor of 2nd Presbyterian Church in Duluth for three years.
In 1958, Robbin joined a missionary organization called International Students, Inc. (ISI), which seeks to share Jesus Christ with internationals while they are in the U.S. He served more than forty years as the Staff Field Director and also helped start ISI in Canada.
Most recently, Robbin has been living with family in Texas. He was surrounded by all his children and many grandchildren during his last few days on earth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1996, his second wife, Grace, in 2011, and his third son, Richard Arthur Marvin, who died of colon cancer in 2014.
Robbin was dearly loved, and he dearly loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who welcomed him home to Heaven with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Come and share your Master's happiness!"
A brief slide show testimony of Robbin's life will be shared during the 6 pm service this Sunday, September 2, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. There will also be a memorial service at his home church in Dallas, Texas. Condolences, flowers, or tributes for Robbin can be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2801 West Riverside Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
